Mix: 'Luther' creator aims for bigscreen success
Neil CrossDon't let his dark tales and disturbed figures fool you for any guy that has designed a living from weaving tales of crooked cops, mass murderers and talking psychopaths, Neil Mix is really a damn funny guy. It goes without saying that sometimes takes fans unexpectedly.InchBizarrely, I recieve many people who're, I believe, disappointed to uncover that I am not really a psychopath," states the author, whose stints on British tv shows include "Spooks" and "The Fixer," along with a creator credit around the hit BBC mental crime drama "Luther." It had been only dependent on time before galleries came calling. While making the transition into film, Mix created a camaraderie with Guillermo del Toro. A couple of Cross' scripts -- a supernatural horror entitled "Mama" along with a dark action/drama entitled "Night time Delivery" -- are now being created by del Toro. Mix, who's signed with UTA, also authored the present draft of del Toro's alien invasion film "Off-shore Rim" for Warner Bros."The greatest help to any creative process may be the possession of the mortgage," he jokes. "It disallows the remote chance of anything resembling writer's block."Fans of "Luther" will gladly realize that focus on the 3rd series has begun, though Mix hints that it'll most likely be its last. "Idris (Elba) is really a busy guy."Signs look great, however, it will not function as the before audiences begin to see the character. "There is a strong possibility you will see a 'Luther' movie soon,Inch states Mix.Could a Neil Mix romantic comedy maintain our future?"Yeah," Mix laughs. "Boy meets girl. Boy falls deeply in love with girl. Boy decapitates girl."TEN SCREENWRITERS To Look At 2011:Josh Applebaum & Andrew Nemec Jay Baruchel & Jesse Chabot Justin Britt-Gibson Neil Mix Andrew Haigh Kurt Johnstad Lauryn Kahn Paula Pell Jon Spaihts John Yorkey Contact the range newsroom at news@variety.com
